Trivia

Tickets for this concert sold out within five hours - they went on sale on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00am.

During the soundcheck Sting changed the lyrics of Every Breath You Take: "oh can't you see - my dog has fleas" ...

While The Police were giving one of many interviews Stewart Copeland and Sting got into a fight over a newspaper. Falling onto the stage floor Stewart accidentally broke one of Sting's ribs. Sting noticed this a few days later.

There were 67.000 people in the audience - among them were Andy Warhol and Matt Dillon.

While playing Shea Stadium Sting decided to stop playing with The Police, because this overwhelming event was as far as the band could possibly go.

There was an aftershow party which went until about 4am the next day.

Interviews, the fight, the soundcheck including the re-working of Every Breath You Take and parts of the actual concert were broadcast on the BBC's "Breakfast Time" show and the weekly "Entertainment USA" show.

The Police normally stayed at their mansion on Long Island, but Andy Summers flew in from Los Angeles for this concert and met Neil Sedaka at the airport.
