  • Sting saw Stormy Monday director Mike Figgis perform with his band "Gas Board" in Newcastle (probably) (in a 1988 magazine clipping he remembered them a Gas Works)

The band performed at the Mayfair on October 30 - 30/10/65 Them, Steam Packet and Gas Board appear at Mayfair, Newcastle

Whisky A Go Go concert(s) are also mentioned online

from a TIME OUT October 1987 article: In the mid-1960s Newcastle did present an option of its own: it was a thriving centre of mod culture, dominated by one of Britain's legendary clubs, The Club A-Gogo. Here Sting frequently saw a group called The Gas Board fronted by a singer with a similar humble background to his own and who was a student of fine arts at the university. The singer was Bryan Ferry. "They were terrific, a really good band," he recalls. "Ferry was very similar to how he is now."

it looks like Gas Board was founded in the 2nd half of 1965 - more info and concert ads http://www.readysteadygone.co.uk/bryan-ferry/ (not necessarily from 1965 !)
